EMPOWERMENT

Overview

At CSS TIRISANO we believe that our future is inextricably linked to that of South Africa.  We are blessed with a constitution, which promotes a society based on democratic values, social justice and fundamental human rights.  As an introduction to Empowerment we have taken the opportunity to remind you of the preamble to the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

When offering views on empowerment matters it is also necessary to comment on progress relating to employment equity.

We, the people of South Africa,

Recognise the injustices of our past;

Honor those who suffered for justice and freedom in our land;

Respect those who have worked to build and develop our country; and

Believe that South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity.

We therefore, through our freely elected representatives, adopt this Constitution as the supreme law of the Republic so as to:

    Heal the divisions of the past and establish a society based on democratic values, social justice and fundamental rights;

    Lay the foundations for a democratic and open society in which government is based on the will of the people and every citizen is equally protected by law;

    Improve the quality of life of all citizens and free potential of each person;

    Build a united and democratic South Africa able to take its rightful place as a sovereign state in the family of nations.

CSS TIRISANO supports the employment equity in the work place which seeks to identify, develop and reward each employee who demonstrates the qualities of individual initiative, hard work and loyalty in their job.

CSS is committed to provide equal opportunities for its employees regardless of their ethnic origin or gender.  Affirmative action strategies are in place to ensure that employee profiles will be more representative of the demographic in which CSS conducts its business activities.

We expect our employees to act in furtherance of our human rights mission statement:
We believe:

    That the success and vitality of CSS lies in the contentment of our shareholders;

    In the fundamental principles of human rights;

    In equality and freedom from discrimination in the workplace;

    In open communication and freedom of expression in the workplace;

    We encourage participation in planning at all levels of CSS;

    In equal opportunity for all members and we are committed to the training and development of all employees;

We believe that the recognition of these basic principles will create a work environment where all employees can together break down mistrust, misunderstandings and improve relationships between people at all levels in CSS.

We would like to believe that it is our actions, not our words that are the primary reason for our ongoing success.

We believe in empowering people and holding them accountable. Our activities demonstrate that we do what we say.

May God protect our people.
